Romantic Era CD Bundle

Canadian Brass has developed a core repertoire for brass quintets based upon classical masterpieces.  The recordings in this package represent some of our best recordings of the Romantic era.

BEETHOVEN SYMPHONY #5 - Featuring Canadian Brass and members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and New York Philharmonic. Individual Track Details: 1. Symphony no 5 in C minor, Op. 67 by Ludwig van Beethoven / Length: 34 Minutes 4 Secs. 2. Egmont, Op. 84: Overture by Ludwig van Beethoven / Length: 8 Minutes 13 Secs. 3. Wellington's Victory, Op. 91 "Battle Symphony" by Ludwig van Beethoven / Length: 12 Minutes 9 Secs.

CARNAVAL - Canadian Brass advances brass music once again by transcribing Robert Schumann's CARNAVAL and KINDERSZENEN to brass quintet. Just as the originals approach the edge of a pianist's technical abilities, the brass quintet versions of KINDERSZENEN and CARNAVAL - the latter a varitable Mt. Everest of keyboard aspiration -require a level of virtuosity that even the greatest players of a generation ago rarely exhibited, but that is standard for today's brass musicians. When using a mobile device please "SWITCH TO STANDARD VIEWING' at the bottom of the page to see video on HOME PAGE and product pages. Contents: Carnaval, Op. 9 by Robert Schumann 1. BRAHMS ON BRASSAfter beginning rehearsals of the Preludes, Canadian Brass trumpeters Brandon Ridenour and Chris Coletti reached into their own recollections playing the piano Waltzes, Opus 39. They both recognized how perfectly suited these waltzes would be for adaptation to modern brass instruments. It has been said that this music exhibits some of Brahms’ most technically proficient writing – with refined melody and a rhythmic individuality that he had exhibited right from the start of his career. Transporting the listener through so many moods, these Waltzes conjure up gypsy music, Bohemian folksong and whirling Viennese soirees, but overall they reflect the German Spirit. VILLAGE BANDA nostalgic recollection yes, but it's unlikely you've heard a performance like this at an evening concert in the park. The virtuosic playing of this classic Canadian Brass recording has always been jaw-dropping, and it's a wonderful example of how these five players can deliver a sound that matches a symphonic band. The arrangements are ideal, and the playing is magnificent - a real treat. Titles: 1. La traviata: Sempre libera by Giuseppe Verdi 2. Dichter und Bauer: Overture by Franz von Suppé 3. Carnevale di Venezia by Traditional 4. La Bohème: Quando m'en vo' soletta "Musetta's Waltz" by Giacomo Puccini 5. Tale of Tsar Saltan: Suite, Op. 57 - Flight of the bumblebee by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov 6. Lieder (8), Op. 10: no 8, Allerseelen by Richard Strauss 7. Il barbiere di Siviglia: Largo al factotum by Gioachino Rossini.

MEDITATIONS FOR TRUMPET - As a special treat, we've included this recording in our Romantic Era CD Bundle.  Although it contains music from other eras, many of the selections are from the Romantic period. Ronald Romm noted that "great music, like all great art, is a synergist of wellness for the soul." In this highly personal album he offers a selection of the best loved works arranged for his warm trumpet sound and incredible facility. He is accompanied by his wife Avis on piano. Together, they offer music that purifies and nourishes, stretching the sonic envelope of trumpet and piano to create something new and fresh. Titles: 1.
