CARNAVAL - Canadian Brass advances brass music once again by transcribing Robert Schumann's CARNAVAL and KINDERSZENEN to brass quintet. Just as the originals approach the edge of a pianist's technical abilities, the brass quintet versions of KINDERSZENEN and CARNAVAL - the latter a varitable Mt. BRAHMS ON BRASS - After beginning rehearsals of the Preludes, Canadian Brass trumpeters Brandon Ridenour and Chris Coletti reached into their own recollections playing the piano Waltzes, Opus 39. They both recognized how perfectly suited these waltzes would be for adaptation to modern brass instruments. It has been said that this music exhibits some of Brahms’ most technically proficient writing – with refined melody and a rhythmic individuality that he had exhibited right from the start of his career. Transporting the listener through so many moods, these Waltzes conjure up gypsy music, Bohemian folksong and whirling Viennese soirees, but overall they reflect the German Spirit. VILLAGE BAND - A nostalgic recollection yes, but it's unlikely you've heard a performance like this at an evening concert in the park. The virtuosic playing of this classic Canadian Brass recording has always been jaw-dropping, and it's a wonderful example of how these five players can deliver a sound that matches a symphonic band. MEDITATIONS FOR TRUMPET - As a special treat, we've included this recording in our Romantic Era CD Bundle.  Although it contains music from other eras, many of the selections are from the Romantic period. Ronald Romm noted that "great music, like all great art, is a synergist of wellness for the soul." In this highly personal album he offers a selection of the best loved works arranged for his warm trumpet sound and incredible facility. He is accompanied by his wife Avis on piano.
