The Fairy Queen is one of Henry Purcell’s (1659-1695) semi-operas which was derived from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Symphony is an all-instrumental work which opens Act IV of the opera. It was originally written for two trumpets, timpani, strings and continuo. All dynamics, articulations and some ornaments (trills) have been added by the editor and may be ignored or altered to better suit the performers. Includes a score and parts for organ, 2 Bb trumpets, horn, trombone, tuba and optional Timpani.
