Toccata for Brass Quintet and Organ (Frescobaldi/arr. Martlatt)

Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643) was a composer and organist in Rome. It was said that as many as 30,000 people attended his recitals and concerts because of his reputation as a brilliant virtuosic performer. He composed motets, madrigals, Masses and Magnificats but his principle achievements were his toccatas. The slower sections can be played with rubato (especially in the technical Trumpet 1 part). The fast sections should not be played too quickly and should be light in articulation. A pedal part in the organ may be added at the performers discretion. This arrangement has been lowered into the key of B-flat from E-flat. Includes a score with organ and parts for 2 Bb trumpets (alternate Eb trumpet1 part included), horn, trombone and tuba.
