The Brass, of course, would have loved to play with Louis Armstrong, but the years just didn't line up. We were only starting as a group in 1971, the year that Satchmo died. This could well have been the end of the story--a legacy to be studied and analyzed. But in the creative hands of Luther Henderson this wealth of musical history was made alive to us. How fortunate we are to have had Luther as our link to all those amazing performers and composers that have made jazz what it is today. And "swing that music" pretty much sums up everything Luther taught us about performing.
