The Canadian Brass is delighted to announce that trombonist Achilles Liarmakopoulos is joining the renowned brass ensemble. Achilles, a native of Greece, is replacing Keith Dyrda, who leaves to pursue his graduate degree. An established and award-winning trombone soloist, Achilles has premiered many works from composers who have written specifically for him. He has given solo recitals in the U.S.A, China and Europe and has performed as a member of many leading orchestras worldwide.
Chuck Daellenbach, tuba player and leader of the Canadian Brass noted, “We are thrilled to have Achilles join us. He is young, charismatic and one of the finest trombonists performing today. We all love his presence, focus and personality and think he will be an ideal member of our ensemble.”
Mr. Liarmakopoulos was appointed principal trombone of the Greek Radio Symphony – ERT in 2010 and recently released a solo CD project featuring Astor Piazzolla compositions on the Naxos label.
Achilles said about joining the Brass, “There are no words to express how excited and honored I feel to be part of this legendary and phenomenal group.”
Opening Day extends a warm welcome to Achilles.
