Educational Publications

Canadian Brass has been a strong leader music education since the group was founded in 1970. The Brass began it's musical journey as part of the Hamilton Symphony's outreach program to schools in Ontario. The Canadian Brass Ensemble series of books have sold over a million copies to date and continue to be a popular series for brass ensembles from beginning players to college level performers.  The series uses a "masterpiece approach", using great music arranged at an appropriate level and includes an introduction section for each piece which points out the unique challenges and points of interest for each selection. Full performances of each selection are also available for purchase.

Many of the performers in the 'Brass have taught privately or at Universities in North America. We have picked the brains of past and present members of the group so that we could carry some of the essential method and study books for each of the brass instruments. We have several books on teaching music and biographies about musicians. Several of the early members of Canadian Brass studied with with Arnold Jacobs, recognized as one of the great brass and wind teachers of the last hundred years. You will find several book titles pertaining to Arnold Jacobs and his pedagogical philosophies in the store. You can also find books on the topic of the business of music that you may find beneficial.
