GRADE 3-3.5
Champagne Variations is a movement from a Sonata in C for two violins, cello and bass by Gioacchino Rossini (1792-1868). The title was given later describing the free-spirited nature of the movement. Cornets are a suggestion of the arranger simply because this piece seems to have the feel of an early 1900’s cornet theme and variations. Lightness of articulations is crucial and the technical parts should be played with ease. Starting at m. 79, the sixteenth note passages could be performed slurred, double tongued or any combination that suits the players.
