This famous motet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was composed in 1791, the year of his death. This piece, made famous by such performers as Kiri Te Kanawa, has been described as “perhaps the loftiest work of art that Mozart has created”. It is a simple, short (46 bars) work that was originally scored for four part chorus, strings and organ. The simple and elegant melodic material should flow along effortlessly with a warm sound and lyrical concept. The dynamics and articulations have been added by the arranger and may be altered to suit the performer.
