DIFFICULTY MEDIUM
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) wrote over 300 cantata’s. This is the most famous section from Cantata No. 208. The trumpets should play with the organ and not against it. The trumpets should always attempt to blend in with the organ sound, whether they are playing the choral melody or the eighth-sixteenth passages. Organ scores have been provided in the keys of Bb and D. With this piece in Bb concert, players perform on Bb trumpets (as written) or could transpose onto Eb trumpets to be more light. Performance in the key of D may be performed on piccolo trumpets in the key of A, G or Bb.
