Performer Edition for Horn
The new Canadian Brass Flex for Three series features a collection of 11 trio arrangements of Canadian Brass hits along with many other familiar classical favorites. These newly arranged grade 2-3.5 flex trios can be performed by any three instruments and focus on teaching critical listening and performing skills while encouraging real collaboration between players. By incorporating the special Canadian Brass DNA, these arrangements are fun to play, enjoyable for players and audiences alike, and are perfect for recitals, contests, and festival adjudications.
These arrangements are written to support all instruments and can be mixed and matched in countless ways. Any Flex for Three instrumental book can be used with any other Flex for Three book in any combination of instruments. Within each trio, the melody is evenly distributed between each part, with all musicians being treated as equal partners. Because of this, critical listening skills are developed as players work to match tonal quality, balance, and style.
The following trios are included:
-BEALE STREET BLUES - W.C. Handy
-EINE KLEINE NACHTMUSIK - W.F. Mozart
-THE ENTERTAINER - S. Joplin
-HALLELUJAH from THE MESSIAH - G.F. Handel

Great arrangements - lack of single parts makes them clunky to use
I bought the Flex for Three series with parts for horn, trombone, and oboe as a way of playing together with my children. The arrangement are great, and I expect we'll be able to put them to good use. Trio music for that combination of instruments is rare, so this should get 5 stars. However - and the reason it only gets 3 stars - the PDF only comes with the full score, not individual parts. Some of the songs are 3 or 4 pages for one instrument. Managing that with all three of us playing will be complicated. The score is excellent because you can see how all the parts overlap. The PDF would be event better if it had individual parts as well. That would dramatically improve the usability.
