Emergence Fanfare was commissioned by Eastern Kentucky University for the opening ceremony of the New Science Building. The title reflects a twofold meaning and reference to both music and science as a process of coming into being or of becoming important or prominent and a phenomenon whereby larger entities arise through interactions among smaller or simpler entities. Replete with traditional fanfare figures, rhythmic ostinati, and majestic melodic writing, Emergence Fanfare captures the glory and excitement of new beginnings and boundless possibilities. This work can be performed as a double brass quintet expanded version of the brass quintet with two players on each part.
