Walter Barnes
A veritable “Mr. Holland’s Opus” music educator, Walter Barnes and I became close friends in the mid 70’s. We shared a belief that young players should be exposed to the highest quality of music from their earliest training. We adopted a masterpiece approach to creating the works bearing his name in our library now. Walter was the perfect writer for this project as he himself was a tuba player, master vocal conductor and teacher of band & orchestra. He was able to blend his expansive knowledge of vocal music, expertise in brass performance and practical experience mentoring young players to create a performable catalog of masterpieces accessible to all players of any level. These books are now being used the world over.
