Well known for its releases on the CBC label, the Hannaford Band's program for Opening Day features light classical repertoire of wide appeal. The band's recordings enjoy an enviable profile on CBC radio.
Conductor, composer and arranger Howard Cable has been a leading figure in the musical life of Canada for over 50 years. He has directed thousands of CBC radio broadcasts and conducted and arranged for many of the network’s most celebrated television programs. In addition to his frequent engagements with the Hannaford Street Silver Band, Howard Cable arranges for the Canadian Brass, The Elmer Iseler Singers and the Toronto Children’s Chorus. His work has been recorded on various labels, including Philips, CBC, RCA and Opening Day.
Connections in Brass is a collection of eight commissions from leading Canadian composers. Guest artists include the chamber ensemble Amici and hornist Joan Watson.
